Includes:

One pound of fresh dayboat scallops from the waters off Cape Cod sealed in Oxygen Permeable packaging.  There will be roughly 15 - 18 per pound and they'll last for 5-6 days from receipt if kept cold in the fridge.  

Serving Size:

It really depends on how you're preparing them.  One pound will serve 4-6 as an appetizer, two to three as a meal.  Many sites will tell you to serve 4 ounces (one quarter pound) per person, but Togue likes to plan on at least 1/3 pound per person.

How can you offer Dayboat scallops outside Maine's season?

There are three types of dayboats: Maine inshore, which can harvest 90-135 pounds from December to April: Northern Gulf of Maine, which can harvest 200 pounds in April (sometimes into May); and Federal, which can harvest 600 - 800 pounds depending on the area in which they fish, which can range from the Gulf of Maine to North Carolina. We are happy to be offering dayboat scallops from Jesse and Abigail Rose, owners of the fishing vessels Nemesis and Midnight Our based in Chatham, MA.  In May, their boats will likely be fishing the Great South Channel.

Togue's Tips: 

They'll all be in one pound packages so you can stock up and fill your freezer.  Size will be roughly 18 to a pound. 

Scallops will be packed in cryovac bags and will last in the fridge for 5-6 days after receipt, or you can place in a freezer bag and freeze for longer storage.  Because we have to go to Cape Cod to get them, they may be shipped 48 hours after harvest rather than 24.  Remember: the vast majority of US sea scallops come from 8-10 day trips. These are DAYBOAT scallops, and you'll taste the difference.
