About the taste:
This delicious stew features chunks of monkfish cooked in a lobster stock with Maine grown potatoes, carrots, onions, a splash of cream, and a hint of Cayenne.
Gluten-free and sold frozen in a "heat and serve" pouch, the stew will likely at least partially defrost in transit and should be stored in the fridge and eaten soon after receipt (more information on packaging).
Why you'll love it:
Maine Coast Monkfish Stew is a project of the Maine Coast Fishermen's Association, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring the fisheries of the Gulf of Maine and sustaining Maine's fishing communities for future generations. The monkfish in this stew is caught in Maine, processed in Maine, and produced by Hurricane's Premium Soup & Chowder, a family-owned and operated soup company in Green Maine.
The monkfish is bought directly from Maine fishermen and all proceeds from the stew go back to supporting MCFA's Fishermen Feeding Mainers Program which supplies local seafood to Maine food banks, schools, and food insecure populations. Since October of 2020, MCFA's Fishermen Feeding Mainers Program has supplied over 400,000 meals to those in need in Maine.
