Includes one and a half pounds of scallops in total.

On Saturday, January 9th, 2027 at 7 PM EST, Togue will lead a guided tasting of 3 different Maine scallop varietals.  During and after the tasting, Togue will explain the reasons why Maine's coast is so uniquely suited to produce such a wide variety of flavors (it's a geological, biological, chemical, gastronomical wonder!), followed by an open Q&A.

Participants in our January 2026 tasting provided overwhelmingly positive feedback and pointed out how fun it was to participate in a group, so consider inviting friends over for a delicious learning experience!

Includes: This one of a kind experience will include

  • Individual packages of scallops from 3 different areas along Maine's coast (if weather issues require, we may use a combination of fresh and frozen scallops: if so, defrosting instructions will be included).  Each package will contain three 8 ounces of scallops, for a total of 1.5 pounds. That's enough for 4 people to complete the tasting or for 2 to complete the tasting and still have enough for a full meal later.
  • A jar of Maine flake sea salt
  • A small bottle of extra virgin olive oil
  • A link to the live Zoom tasting
  • A lovely invitation with information about the event to be sent the week of Christmas. Be sure to include the email to whom you want the email sent in the notes section of your order if it's different from yours.
  • Nationwide shipping included!  Note: Please include the email of the person you'd like to receive the invitation graphic in the notes section of your order if it's different from YOUR email.

Togue's Tips: This is an amazing opportunity to experience a delicious one of a kind tasting while

You may have seen oyster tasting wheels before, such as this one.  This type of tasting wheel does not yet exist for scallops, since most Americans have only ever tasted generic waterlogged scallops from the offshore fishery.  This tasting will help dispel the myth that "a scallop is a scallop" by guiding participants through the unique flavors produced by different bays along Maine's long, craggy coast.

The scallops provided will be enough for up to four people to participate.  Where else can you (and up to three friends!) enjoy a fascinating presentation and a unique tasting experience for just $165?

NOTE: The graphics below, along with information about the tasting, will be emailed the Wednesday prior to the tasting.
