Includes: 2 pounds of frozen North Carolina (Green Tail) White Shrimp harvested in the waters off North Carolina.
Serving Size: Serves 2-3 depending on appetites.
Togue's tips: Thaw overnight in the fridge, or for quick thaw place the entire unopened bag under cool running water for 15 minutes. Prepare (cook thoroughly) and consume immediately when thawed.
These shrimp were harvested in early February by fisherman Steve Eddy and driven straight up to Maine (that same afternoon!) by his friend Breece Gahl. Togue froze them within 48 hours but we haven't had a chance to offer them yet since we've been so busy with scallops. Now that the Maine and Northern Gulf of Maine seasons are over, we thought we'd offer them as a Mother's Day special while they last.
In Togue's words: These are a good quality shrimp, with a better texture than I'm used to and a nice flavor. I love knowing where they came from, when they were caught and that there are NO ADDITIVES, which is a hard thing to find in frozen shrimp. I'm psyched to be able to keep these in my freezer for quick meals. Because hey - you can't live on scallops alone :)
